How To Educate Our Kids For Making Them Successful In Their Future---Pakistan's Perspective
Do we ever think that "Why only a limited percentage of our enrolled children in different private and public schools can compete when they reach their higher studies and a large number of students can not compete at this higher stage?
There are many aspects of this and I want to discuss them as my today's topic. The main reasons for this very reality are:
Parent's Carelessness:
Most of the children who belong to a middle-class families cannot get proper attention from their parents. Their parents think that the only duty on their part is to send their children to schools or colleges. They often quarrel, misbehave or create an atmosphere of chaos in front of their children. Such students get affected psychologically. Parents should show an attitude of affection towards their children. They should regularly discuss what their children did the whole day and what they learn. And whenever children face any problem whether, in academic life or personal life, parents should give proper attention to solve their problems. In this way, children learn not only how to deal with problematic situations but also observe a sense of affection from their parents.
Poor Schooling:
Type of Schooling and its environment cause a major setback in developing children's personal and professional traits. There is a big difference in the environment of private and public schools in Pakistan. Private schools usually provide such an English-Medium environment in which children feel happy to go to school daily to learn different skills. Whereas, Public Schools do not provide enough facilities for grooming the children's potential. Parents should check the environment of schools and colleges before getting admission for their children. Good and well-managed schools always provide quality education making the base of the students.
Medium of Schooling:
The mode of language plays an important role in the success of every child. Most of the private schools are English Medium as compare to public schools. Research has proved that those children whose medium of schooling is English get jobs easily as compare to those whose medium of schooling is Urdu. It should be considered that in Pakistan, the option of Urdu Medium education is up to Intermediate (12th). After doing Intermediate, children who get education in Urdu medium school face severe difficulty in Universities where 85% curriculum is offered in English medium and children who get education in English Medium Schools perform well as compare to those schooling in Urdu Medium.
For competing at higher levels, learning the English Language is very important. It is because the understanding of English is too much necessary in many areas of practical field. Those who learn the English Language from childhood have an extra edge not only in written examinations but also in viva-voice.
Presentation and Other Soft Skills:
Why do most job searchers fail while giving their interviews? The answer is: "They lack presentation and Other Soft Skills". 90% of the students do not attain such skills even after their University Education. The skills are but are not limited to Presentation Skills, Stress Management, Interpersonal Skills, Analytical & Decision Making Abilities, Speaking Skills, and Others. Both parents and teachers do not concentrate on imparting such skills. But children from the elite class are usually well versed about all of these skills. It is because they learn such beneficial skills from their schools, colleges, and universities where there may be additional classes or additional curriculum are arranged by the management considering its importance. Parents should enroll their children in institutions that provide such golden skills and develop student's personalities and confidence to deal in a practical world.
Participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities:
Most of the students do not participate in the extracurricular (Sports, Games Athletics) activities arranged by schools, colleges, and universities which badly affect their leadership skills, teamwork, sense of belonging, and sportsmanship in their personality. Students should also participate in speech contests, drama societies, Quiz Competitions, and other such activities. Research proved that participation in extracurricular and co-curricular activities positively correlates with students’ development both academically and personally. Students who participate in such activities have greater academic success, greater character development, especially in the areas of time-management and leadership skills, more positive social development, and greater interest in community involvement. The educational system can use such information to encourage students to participate in activities that will enhance their personal and academic achievements.
Bad Company:
Student's surrounding is of much importance in the success and growth of any student. It is being observed that students who live in the company of bright students always show good results as compare to those who live in a bad company. A student's environment should be good for study and learning as a bad environment causes dullness lack of interest in getting a good education. Parents should also keep an eye on their children's activities and provide them a good environment so that they can pin their focus only on healthy activities.
Conclusion:
In Practical Markets, Employers always need Dynamic, Intelligent, Hard Workers, Confident, Skillful and Versatile Candidates to Manage their affairs and work in their companies. No one can easily get a job in the absence of the above-mentioned abilities. That is why Students of LUMS, IBA, NUST, and other foreign degree holders can easily get High Profile Jobs in Pakistan. And students who do not get a proper education or pass their Degrees with Average Scores find it difficult to get Jobs in Higher positions.
This is evident from the results of top competitive examinations of Pakistan such as the Central Superior Services Examination (CSS) by FPSC and the Examinations of Chartered Accountancy by ICAP where less than 2% and 10% respectively (all over Pakistan) manage to pass the Examination every year. But astonishingly, Successful Students from both of these Examinations are to be seen in Top-Level Positions in Pakistan. Only those students Pass Such Examinations who built their personality from their very beginning and care about every aspect which I mentioned above.
I hope you find this article beneficial and follow all this while Educating Your children and Siblings to make them different from many students. Thanks.
